Thank you for 2016 camping

Thank you, each and every one of you that came out camping with West Sussex this year, whether it was for one night or every meet we wouldn’t be able to do it without you.

We also wouldn’t be able to run any meets without the stewards, so a big thank you to all the stewards. They do a very important job of running the meet and making everyone welcome. If you fancy trying your hand at stewarding, then please let us know. “Full training will be provided” – if you want to start off be helping to see what goes on, then not a problem, and there are always other campers on hand who have stewarded to lend a hand should you need it.

There are also lots of other helpers that organise activities, thank you to you all aswell. If you have any ideas for activities that you think would bring the campers together – if you know a good walk from a site, want to organise a game / sport put together a quiz (your webmaster/quizmaster wouldn’t mind testing his brain by trying to answer a few questions!) then ideas are welcome, so get your thinking caps on.

The next official DA event will be the Christmas / New Year meal, further details will be made available nearer the time.

Farewell to Lancing THS 2016

A big thank you to all of you who attended Lancing College THS. It was great to see new faces and catch up with old friends, and make a few new ones too!

Our Charity Day was supporting the Air Ambulance (https://www.kssairambulance.org.uk) and this year we broke all records and made a fantastic £808.00 on the day. Thank you all for your generosity. The Air Ambulance runs purely on donations, so a great help to a very worthy cause, and thank you to Lyndsey (an air ambulance paramedic) for giving us an insight into its operations.

The Great Lancing Bake Off again “proved” to be well supported with Chris Carpenter takings first prize, and Leslie coming in a close second. The Childrens prize was won by Skye, who made a multicoloured butterfly cake.

Well done to “Oh no not them again” on winning the quiz (again!) and to everyone who took park in the Cryptic Underground questions.

It was great to meet some new campers, and I hope that Sam doesn’t mind me quoting her Facebook comment: “Our first time out with our own DA. What a lovely site at Dykes Farm in Pulborough. Lovely site and lovely friendly people. Beautiful day too. Would highly recommend “. The Facebook open day was also a success with a number of people popping in for a chat and a cuppa.

Congratulations to Gordon and Val for winning the Boules competition in a hard fought final with one point in it all the way to 10 all.

Access to the site is best approached via the A283 either via Pulborough or Storrington, then turn into West Chiltington Road, signposted Nutbourne. The site is also adjacent to a disused railway line which is perfect for cycling in a safe and very picturesque environment, so if you can, bring your bike!
